BACKGROUND

Ikhaya Loxolo lase – Gugulethu is a residential care centre for frail and older persons. It was established in 1996 and was previously known as Ekhupumeleni. It was reconstituted and incorporated as Ikhaya Loxolo Lase – Gugulethu NPC in 2015 and in 2024 it was registered as an NPO. It is funded and registered by the Department of Social Development as an old age home.

The facility provides compassionate, loving and reliable home and care services to help keep seniors safe and independent wherever they call home. They have a team of professional nurses who are well trained for home-based care. The nurses and support staff will care for your elderly as though they were their own relatives. They will bath, dress, feed, help with exercises, extramural activities, manicure/pedicure and make sure that they receive their medication at the right time.

Ikhaya Loxolo is driven by its passion for quality care which results in quality of life to the elderly. They respect the older persons right to choose what happens in his/her own life and environment and adapt their services to that. They recognize the many facets of support and care that individuals require by addressing that through their different care options, tailor-made to the individual’s needs and is done with great success.
